Michelle Martin helps clients facilitate positive change in their lives by
connecting to their internal resources and deepening their interpersonal
relationships. This work is collaborative with the client having an active
voice in the therapy process. She believes that the best mental health
treatment is sensitive and respectful of the individual's personal values and
beliefs.
Michelle joined Harbor Psychological Associates in January 2007 and is part of
the formation of Harbor Center for Sexual Health. Her areas of expertise
include relationship issues including couples and parent-child, anxiety and
mood disorders, sexual problems in adults, and the behavior disorders of
children. Her clinical orientations are Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused
and Family Systems.
Michelle grew up in the Muskegon area and is happy to return to it after living
many years in Minnesota where she attended graduate school and started her
career in Mental Health. She earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology
from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis where she also completed a
post-graduate program in Marriage and Family Psychology. She has worked in
large non-profit mental health agencies as well as in private practice
