Michelle Martin helps clients facilitate positive change in their lives by connecting to their internal resources and deepening their interpersonal relationships. This work is collaborative with the client having an active voice in the therapy process. She believes that the best mental health treatment is sensitive and respectful of the individual's personal values and beliefs.
Michelle joined Harbor Psychological Associates in December 2006 and is part of the formation of Harbor Center for Sexual Health. Her areas of expertise include relationship issues including couples and family issues, anxiety and mood disorders, and sexual problems in adults. Her clinical orientations are Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused and Family Systems. She offers occasional therapy groups as well.
Michelle grew up in the Muskegon area and is happy to return to it after living many years in Minnesota where she attended graduate school and started her career in Mental Health. She earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis where she also completed a post-graduate program in Marriage and Family Psychology. She has worked in large non-profit mental health agencies as well as in private practice settings. She also holds degrees from Hope College in Philosophy and Theatre and from the University of Minnesota in Stage Direction. She resides in Muskegon with her husband.
